A Little History

The Airdrie Artist Guild was established in 1988 by Jean Ottosen and Roger Lee. It is a non-profit Society accepting members within the community who enjoy art creation and social atmosphere that encourages art awareness and development. Meetings are held the second and fourth Wednesdays monthly, this year in the Co-op Community Room. Today the club offers the same art enjoyment opportunities as in the past; workshops, demonstrations, lectures, sketch night, video demos and community projects. Art is displayed over the summer in the Airdrie Public Library and at various outlets in town including Smitty's Restaurant.

Empty Bowls Arts Festival- Sat. June 12 - 11am - 4pm

For the Last Class of the Seniors Art Enrichment Program we painted designs onto bowls. This is mine before the firing, I can't wait to see it when its shiny. My hope is someone likes horses enough to pay $20 (the ongoing price) for the bowl. The empty bowl origins come from Michigan, A teacher and his students were searching to raise funds to support a food drive. Guests were served soup and bread as a meal and were then invited to keep the bowl as a reminder of the hunger in the world. The Airdrie Artist Guild will be painting theirs on Wed June 9th.
I will post more pictures of all the bowls.
