A Little History

The Airdrie Artist Guild was established in 1988 by Jean Ottosen and Roger Lee. It is a non-profit Society accepting members within the community who enjoy art creation and social atmosphere that encourages art awareness and development. Meetings are held the second and fourth Wednesdays monthly, this year in the Co-op Community Room. Today the club offers the same art enjoyment opportunities as in the past; workshops, demonstrations, lectures, sketch night, video demos and community projects. Art is displayed over the summer in the Airdrie Public Library and at various outlets in town including Smitty's Restaurant.

The Youth in the Library Art Project

At the last meeting in September Airdrie Art Guild Artists outlined and enhanced the Youth in the Library Project created during the Airdrie Fest at the Airdrie Artist Guild's 19th Annual Exhibition.  The Children were asked to incorporate into one picture all of their individual ideas.  This is the finished painting which will hang in the Airdrie Public Library.
